All sets database 18 July 2022
Above is a link to a database of all Playmobil sets on a Microsoft® Excel Spreadsheet, last updated 18 July 2022
(I can make this spreadsheet available in other formats, just ask! I have colour coded the background or text in some cells, but this colour information may not be saved in other formats).
Why did I do this? I found no one source of information on PM sets to be totally comprehensive. I also wanted to be able to sort and filter the information and search for words in the set titles, so a spreadsheet seemed a good idea. (If you want some tips on sorting, filtering and searching, see here!). It’s a useful way of keeping track of sets we have too (a tick list!)
I collected data from several sources and cross-referenced. I have included all 4-digit and 5-digit set numbers (6245 sets) which appear in PlaymoDB. I have not included GIG, BASA, Antex, Kenbrite, Lyra, Japanese, Canadian, Korean, Marx-Toys, Schaper or Trol sets (pages 359-491 of Collector). I did include all ‘Export sets’, many Spanish sets and all Mattel and Playmobil (USA) sets.
I used the following sources:
1. PlaymoDB (for set names, themes, set numbers, klickies per set)
2. Collector 3rd edition (for many release dates and set versions. I have also given page numbers for all sets on pages 18-358, 492-540 and 550-2 of the book).
3. Datenbank-Setinhalt mit Inhaltsverzeichnis at Klickywelt (Photos of set contents of many pre-1990 and a few post-1990 sets, some set contents still sealed in original bags, some sets show box pictures only)
4. www.playmobil.de (Produkt-Arkiv, Building Instructions pdfs available)
6. Searches of Playmofriends and other Klickywelt topics
7. Google searches
I have also included a list of all unused set numbers in the ranges 3000-7999, 9000-9999, 70000-71099 and 80500-80899. There are currently 709 unused 4-digit numbers and 421 unused 5-digit numbers in these ranges.
337 numbers used for more than one set (some of these duplicates refer to different versions of the same set).
Some sets have a non-English name in PlaymoDB, especially recently-released ones. I will add the English names as they become available (last checked 18 June 2020).
Since Geobra changed the Playmobil website, it is no longer easy to check the total number of sets for which building instruction pdf files are available. Generally speaking, all recent sets (apart from small ones with just one or two klickies) have a set of building instructions.
The data in a few columns is not yet complete (column title in red text). I did not include the ‘Focus’ which Heather has ascribed to each set in PlaymoDB, which some might have found useful.
Some more notes, relating to each column in the spreadsheet are in the second tab of the sheet. Other tabs show analysis of themes, year of release, klickies per set, etc.
There are no links to web pages in this spreadsheet, so it will not update automatically, but I periodically check when Heather adds sets to PlaymoDB, or changes the Theme to which a set is allocated.
Any corrections to data will be gratefully received. Please feel free to make use of this data elsewhere.
